Shower door tips
Channel systems.
In certain cases channel systems can be the only option. But if you do have a choice consider the following. Channels introduce more points of contact, meaning more things to waterproof and seal.
We’ve noticed the longevity of framed systems isn’t as good as clip systems. At Powerz Glass Co we ensure proper installation of all our products. But whoever installs your channel shower door, ensure they use some kind of pressure vinyl or clamps in the channel. To make panels as secure as possible. We’ve seen some without these considerations and prove to be a risk.
Adequate wood framing for shower door.
When remodleing shower. We strongly suggest you tell your contractor to install sufficient wood along the line that the shower door will be installed. When it’s hollow, or only drywall. It limits the size and complexity of shower door glass that can be installed.
These are 3/8” thick panels, and need a good anchor. If you have a chance to install wood during prep phase it will save you headaches in the future.
Specialized glass coating for hard water and grime build up.
When considering a shower door system. We advise getting a specialized coating that goes directly baked onto the glass. It helps with maintaining glass for coming years. It helps in preventing water stains that occur when sodium starts forming on the glass. This keeps glass looking fresh and like new. These coatings also take away the need to use abrasives or chemical cleaners.
